Beachin' in Bataan: Playa La Caleta

We went in Bataan a week after the Holy Week. I know, Bataan is famous for its rich history but it has hidden beaches that are waiting to be discovered. I was so intrigued because I have seen beaches online and I think they are worth visiting. Since it was already summer, it was so difficult to find available accomodations especially on weekends. In luck, I contacted Playa La Coleta to reserve an overnight stay on a weekend for 2. Yay! I was so excited.

From Pasay to Bataan, I haven't thought that it would take us almost the whole day for going there alone. We rode Genesis bus along EDSA-Taft going to Balanga, Bataan for Php306 each. It took us around 4hrs traveling. We get off at the Balanga Highway and rode a tricycle worth Php50 to transport us on Balanga Station where we will ride a bus going to Morong, Bataan. When we get there, SM City Bataan was still building but as of this writing, I have read on the news that it was already open for public. Which is good because there are no food places around the station but there are donuts and siomai rice available. Not much but it can fill up the stomach. Sadly, we need to wait for 2 hrs because the bus had just left minutes before we reached the station. We need to wait for the next one. We rode an ordinary bus (not air-conditioned) going to Morong worth Php180 each and took us 1 hr to get there. It was important to take note that the entrance in PLC is on the boundery of Pilar and Morong. It will also be instructed to you when you made a reservation. We had reached the PLC entrance and booked a shuttle going to the beach and vice versa. It was worth Php300 on a roundtrip each.

It was a bumpy ride. We were assisted on the front desk for rules and regulations then lead us to our loft. It was almost 5pm when we get there from 9:30am when we rode Genesis bus in Pasay. Worth the time though seeing the beach, the whole place.

The area of PLC is actually wide and there are 2 areas where some accomodations are separated. All the beach lofts are located on the inner side of the beach which we almost have the area all by ourselves. Somehow rocky though but the sea water was clean and refreshing. We enjoyed some time there before we ate dinner. We just dropped our bags, changed to swimwear then dipped in.

The sun set and we ate dinner. By the way, PLC has its own restaurant and bar. There was a live band performing during dinner. All purchases made inside PLC will be summed up and paid during check out so no need to carry purses around. Just enjoy the beach and mind the payment later.

It has been a tiring day but we enjoyed the afternoon 'til the night. The food was awesome and right for the price. We spent some time and strolled for a while before we get back to the loft.

Early morning smiling on this beautiful view. Who doesn't want to wake up on this view in the morning? Right? Right?

We get up early, had some breakfas,t which was included on the accomodation by the way, at the reastaurant. It was not allowed to bring foods from the restaurant to your room. The ambiance was good so no need to worry. We had some shots around the beach because the location was picture perfect.

We spent the morning at the beach-front. It felt so good and relaxing. Have I mentioned that the place was not crowded? It was definitely a hidden jem. Though it was a bit pricey but worth it, promise. But be patient on communicating with PLC because they do not respond immediately. You need to call them, they did not reply to messages even e-mails. Urgh. But they are friendly and will accomodate you when you came, so just relax.

We left around 2 pm. We rode shuttle leaving the beach and wait for a bus going to Balanga Bus station. We rode a Bus going to Pasay and went home.

We enjoyed the whole experience! Until next time...
